UPDATE: My apologies yall.... I thought my episode of Portlandia was airing last week. Indeed, it did not. But soon Fred tells me. Soon! Just keep checking in.

Well folks, it's that time of year again.... time for check ins, updates, reboots, rewires, retools and twist offs. As in wine bottles.

First off, I have a bunch of shows coming up including MISSION CREEK FESTIVAL and Hawaii's GIRLFESTIVAL so check THE CALENDAR PAGE for the full lineup!

This Friday I will be appearing on an episode of IFC's PORTLANDIA (which airs right before THE INCREASINGLY POOR DECISIONS OF TODD MARGARET!) Also this Spring... listen for my voice on Adulm Swim's METALOCALYPSE.

As for the show I was developing with Katie Jacobs for FOX, it is very sadly no more. That's all I can really say at this moment. But the good news is that Katie and I will be working on new projects in the coming year and we remain committed to working together.

That's my update for now. More to come soon!

Dear friends and enemies of poetry alike,

Back in 2007 before the Write Now Poetry Society (writenowpoets.org) existed and before we really knew what we had been craving in our collective vision, I and a few local poets produced a a one-off show called The Drums Inside Your Chest (thedrumsinsideyourchest.com) in Los Angeles. It was such a success, we decided to turn it into an annual series.

Today, we are so proud and honored to invite you to the 5th anniversary of this amazing show that was the launchpad for our brand of swagger. What is our swagger you ask?
Read the recent review of the event, Dark Blushing at the Getty Museum written by curator Julian Brooks: http://blogs.getty.edu/iris/marilyn-manson-luminous-poetry-and-british-watercolors/).

We are passionate about creating unique programming for poetry events and enriching the concept of the modern poetry experience and it all started with The Drums Inside Your Chest, a variety show comprised of the most contemporary and unusual poets, musicians and hosts. Here is the trailer from our first show back in 2007:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zsftqOmwHsY

This year is no exception.

Please join me, Mindy Nettifee, Keeli Shaw, April Jones, Cristin O'Keefe Aptowicz and all the incredible producers, volunteers and friends that make this show possible every year for a shot of whatever tickles your fancy and a night of excellent debauchery at THE LARGO CORONET THEATRE on SUNDAY NOVEMBER 6th at 7:30pm.

Here's the lineup!

Rives has appeared on the last four seasons of HBO's "Def Poetry Jam" and he was a member of the 2004 National Poetry Slam championship team. He is co-host of the annual TEDActive conference and he performs his work, from hi-tech to no-tech, at festivals and events around the globe.

CORRINA BAIN
http://corrinabain.com/wordpress/
Corrina Bain is a genderqueer writer-performer. The Boston Globe says, “In the poetry world, he’s a rock star.” He’s an engaging minor character in the film “Slamnation,” and he won the haiku championship at the Individual World Poetry Slam in 2007. He now lives in the state of Washington with his wife, the fabulous Carol. He’s been in jail, but he can explain.

MATT COOK
http://www.worldofpoetry.org/usop/life2.htm
Matt Cook is the darkly funny author of three books of poetry (In the Small of My Backyard, Eavesdrop Soup, and The Unreasonable Slug, all published by Manic D Press).
