Dear friends,

So many folks over the last couple of weeks have asked me to make these songs downloadable which I couldn’t do because while I made up the lyrics, the music was not mine. So I asked my friend Dan The Automator (of Gorillaz and Handsome Boy Modeling School) to write new music for each track and I re-recorded the vocals with some extra new Thugessness added to each one. (And yes, the Sessions poster is a picture of me from Halloween at age 6 dressed up as a warrior.)

Dan and I threw this together for you (very literally, over night) and we hope you enjoy them, ESPECIALLY because 100% of their proceeds will go directly to The Respect Project, a brand new fund of the 501c3 nonprofit Write Now Poetry Society which will disburse grants to organizations who run creative writing workshops for women and girls and those working to end violence against women, such as The Safe Zone Foundation. You can donate as much or as little as you want. Every cent (even if it is literally only a cent) is tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.

Extra special thanks to the other inspirers, friends and people who helped to make this happen: April Jones, Mindy Nettifee, Rachel McKibbens, Chris Palko (Cage), Syd Butler, Ryan Fagman & French Kiss Records.

The songs are:

SPLITS
CONTRACEPTION MATTERS
DANCEFLOOR ETIQUETTE
ALL IN FAVOR

Very truly yours,
Amber

The Tyrese Sessions- An Update.

If you don't know what happened over the last week and primarily yesterday, read it here:

THE TYRESE SESSIONS

I emailed Tyrese one last time yesterday (as myself of course) after he wrote me saying "you took this shit public?! Not cool... not even remotely..." I reiterated that yes I took advantage of a man that took adntage of another man's cc list... but it's all good- we should do a song together and laugh at the whole thing. He said my music was "corny as fuck" and no. Now I am 86% sorry, Tyrese.

As a result, last night I got acupuncture in my knees while drinking Maker's Mark. Because that's how a Thugess rolls.

Because I'm not even CLOSE to being done with these songs yet.

Where's Amber Rose? Girl, let's DO THIS. It's not even my birthday. But let's do this.

Because I'm getting ready for more Fem-Squats, with or without the most beautiful man-abs R&B has to offer.

I wonder what song I will write today? Rick Santorum? There are so many gems that rhyme with sweater vest....

UPDATE: My apologies yall.... I thought my episode of Portlandia was airing last week. Indeed, it did not. But soon Fred tells me. Soon! Just keep checking in.

Well folks, it's that time of year again.... time for check ins, updates, reboots, rewires, retools and twist offs. As in wine bottles.

First off, I have a bunch of shows coming up including MISSION CREEK FESTIVAL and Hawaii's GIRLFESTIVAL so check THE CALENDAR PAGE for the full lineup!

This Friday I will be appearing on an episode of IFC's PORTLANDIA (which airs right before THE INCREASINGLY POOR DECISIONS OF TODD MARGARET!) Also this Spring... listen for my voice on Adulm Swim's METALOCALYPSE.

As for the show I was developing with Katie Jacobs for FOX, it is very sadly no more. That's all I can really say at this moment. But the good news is that Katie and I will be working on new projects in the coming year and we remain committed to working together.

That's my update for now. More to come soon!

ABOUT MY MAMA:

I had a pretty fantastic childhood growing up around artists and musicians and beingexposed to the best culture money can't buy, thanks to my parents. One of my bestmemories is sitting around a campfire with my parents and their friends and listeningto my mom sing and play her guitar. The smell of wood burning in the iron pit. Thesmell of bourbon burning in throats. The glazed cheerful smiles on everyone's faces. Mymom Bonnie has written and performed music that has always had a way of bringingpeople together and inspiring them. All this to say I am incredibly proud and pumpedto let you all know that, after spending 25 years raising me and supporting me in somany invaluable ways (my Father too, especially the raising part. Zing!), my mamahas FINALLY put out a new album of some of her greatest songs to date. If MarianneFaithful made a baby with Hank Williams and Edith Piaf jumped out of her grave to writea song about how in love with that baby she is, it would sound something like BonnieTamblyn's "Winter Wind". I am not writing this because she's my mom. I'm writingit because it's true and I believe in her music. Her album is on sale today so pick up acopy. You'll hear me on several of the tracks too. Congratulations, mom. You are a 60-something fox who can rock out with the best of them. The O.G. Ani Difranco. The Goddess of all 12 strings. Hope to see you there!
