Happy ‘Eleven from South Africa

Holy crap!  It’s a new year!

I am writing this from a too posh resort in South Africa with it’s own private butler services and infused breakfast butters zested with the skins of rare local fruits.  It is an extreme difference compared to the last 2 and a half weeks of traveling through the Bush, walking from the border of Zimbabwe through to Namibia and generally roughing it through 6 countries over half a month.

We went from no shower or drinking water for days to this plush hydro-jet bathtub with aromathery bath salts.  Weird.  Just weird.  Africa seems to have every extreme possible.  I love it.

It’s been a life changing experience for me to come here.  Spending time with my 2 friends in Botswana and hearing them speak fluent Tswana (pronounced Setswana) was incredible.  I am humbled by their expediency in learning another language and their general proactive disposition living in often harsh conditions for months at a time.   It makes me think about all the times I’ve complained that New York weather is too cold!  Or LA weather is too perfect!  Or that anything is too anything.  I have some great pictures which I will post soon.   And some more shows for next year which I will post soon.

I hope you all had a great New Years last night.  My boyfriend and I ate a huge meal, drank 2 bottles of wine and passed out.  We were awoken by the uber rich neighbor’s fireworks going off outside of their mansion.  We realized it was midnight.  We fell right back asleep, lip to lip.
